The 2:00 And 10:00 Habit

15 April, 2008 (11:44) | Church Activities, Etiquette, Tutorial/How-To

by Cecile Cinco

You may have heard of the 3:00 habit, especially for the Catholics, but what is the 2:00 and 10:00 habit all about?

Last Sunday, April 12, the UCG-Manila Women’s Club monthly meeting was privileged to hear from Gracielle Remo about Etiquette.

Although some of the tips we already knew before, aside from the good review, the 2:00 and 10:00 habit garnered most attention. It is the way women should stand to be considered with good etiquette manners.

Below is the 10:00 standing position where the right foot is slightly forward (pointing the clock’s 12 imaginarily) and the left foot a bit behind the right but pointing towards (imaginarily) the clock’s 10. The opposite, of course is the 2:00 standing position. I just termed it ‘habit’ as it should be.

In addition, sitting with a good etiquette means bending your legs diagonally to one side and countering the balance with your body and hands like so:

Or, if you need to put down both feet, they should also follow the 2:00 and 10:00 habit:

We sure did learn something good and worthwhile to take home from Gracielle Remo and her mother Grace Remo who taught us some cooking and baking unleavened bread.
