One of the greatest gifts I received was a tree seedling. It was a Philippine Narra seedling that was given away as souvenir to a wedding by our family friend. I say it was the most practical and most environment-friendly souvenir. (Why haven’t I thought of that before?)
My brother was the one who was able to attend the wedding since he lived nearby. It was impossible for us to be there. Anyway, when my brother came to my mom’s he brought with him 3 narra seedlings. We let it stay in a big container. We didn’t want to plant them as yet on the ground because we were moving.
After the move, there was only 1 left. The other 2 were given to someone else (I don’t remember to whom my mom gave it). The last one was planted at the back with barely enough soil but it grew fast. I made sure the top is still reachable so I prune it always.
The Philippine Narra is a medicinal tree and not mere furniture decor or walls and floors to a rich man’s mansion. Just see what the Philippine Narra tree can do to your health. It did us a lot of good.
Sadly, when we moved again, we can no longer bring the tree with us. It has grown big that it can no longer be uprooted. One of these days maybe I’ll invite my mom to go to the Manila Seedling Bank and buy some. It not only helps our health personally but it gives more oxygen to our environment.
As for the Tree Givers, it is an opportunity to help the environment get healthier amidst the ever-growing pollution our Mother Earth is experiencing. What happens is you buy a tree for someone as a birthday gift, anniversary gift, friendship gift, whatever gift event you have in mind, for your love one like your spouse,
